Hello ScienceWorks Community,

We would like to share the wonderful news that, following a successful search for a new Education Manager, Nate Trimble has accepted the position and will start on September 21, 2026.

Nate joined the ScienceWorks Education team in the winter of 2024 as one of our educators. He is trained in Next Generation Science Standards and has a master’s degree in wildlife ecology, along with a diverse range of teaching experiences spanning a wide variety of ages and socioeconomic backgrounds. His adult life has moved between wildlife research, science outreach, teaching, and childcare.

Nate has been involved in environmental education in Southern Oregon since moving to Ashland ten years ago. He served on the Rogue Valley Audubon Society Board of Directors for three years, where he was the field trip coordinator and led birding lessons and walks for kids. He also writes our Birding with Nate blog for our Field Notes page and social media — a very popular resource for many of our local bird lovers.

Nate is also a scientific illustrator and artist, a youth mountain bike coach, and an experienced birding trip leader. He has coordinated volunteers for community science projects and worked with multiple organizations to create opportunities for people to connect with the natural world.

Nate enjoys nothing more than sharing his fascination with science and the natural world with others. As a parent, he has also experienced firsthand the benefits ScienceWorks offers our community as a safe place for kids to play, learn, and grow.

Please join us in welcoming Nate to ScienceWorks as our new Education Manager. We are excited to have him take on this new role and look forward to all he will bring to our Education Department and our community.
