ScienceWorks is pleased to announce that our very own Exhibits & Facilities Coordinator, Liz Koonce, was recently elected to the board of the Oregon Museums Association (OMA).

Founded in 1978, the Oregon Museums Association is a volunteer-run, nonprofit membership organization that empowers Oregon's museums to thrive. OMA members include more than 250 Oregon museums, individual museum professionals, students, and museum-related businesses. The organization provides professional development, networking opportunities, and advocacy for the museum field. OMA board members play a vital role in shaping the organization’s operations and future, impacting museums across the state.

In addition to her role at ScienceWorks, Liz holds a masters degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Oregon, where she discovered her passion for exhibit design while working as an Exhibitions Assistant for three years at another OMA institution, the Museum of Natural & Cultural History (MNCH). After several years working as a landscape architect designing parks, gardens, and playgrounds, Liz focused her career on interpretive educational exhibits, bringing together her design expertise and her background in plants and ecology.

Liz is honored to serve as an OMA board member and is excited about what’s ahead for Oregon’s museum community — and for ScienceWorks.
