ScienceWorks is thrilled to team up with former education director Ash Friend to present a brand-new performance, As You Light It: A Green Energy Quest, at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s Green Show stage.

As You Light It is a lively, all-ages interactive performance written by Ash Friend and inspired by Shakespeare’s As You Like It; this 45-minute science show brings together storytelling, hands-on demonstrations, and renewable energy education with humor and a touch of Elizabethan flair.

Students, families, and curious minds of all ages are invited to join two “Science Bards” as they follow a group of exiles from Shakespeare’s Forest of Arden and explore the four "natural elements" as they were understood in Shakespeare’s time: Earth, Air, Fire, and Water.

With help from the audience, the Bards investigate each element through the lens of renewable energy — asking, testing, and experimenting to discover: which element has the power to light the bulb and restore balance to Arden!
