Our New Water Table Has Arrived

Big news: our brand-new interactive water exhibit has arrived! Earlier this week, the fabrication team made the long drive from Kansas and delivered the newest addition to ScienceWorks: Ripple Effect: Hands-On with Hydrodynamics. They rolled in early Tuesday morning, and our staff jumped right in to help with unloading and installation. During their visit, the fabrication team also trained our staff on how to care for this exciting new exhibit.

Ripple Effect is designed for curious minds of all ages. Guests can experiment with dams, turbines, and cascading channels to explore how motion, gravity, and design shape the flow of water. Along the way, you’ll dive into key STEAM concepts like:

  • Hydrodynamics: the science of how water moves and transfers energy
  • Hydraulics: how humans harness that motion to do work

It’s a hands-on space for kinetic and social play — a place where curiosity, compassion, and stewardship all begin with a splash.

We’re also deeply grateful for the community support that helped bring this project to life. The Carrico Foundation awarded ScienceWorks a generous $50,000 grant supporting the design and construction of the exhibit. The Ford Family Foundation also provided critical funding to help acquire the water table. Their partnership makes it possible for us to offer an engaging, accessible learning experience that connects visitors to the natural systems all around us.

To make room for installation and final troubleshooting, Pacific Crest Cove will be closed through the weekend. We do not have an opening date yet, as our team is fine-tuning every detail, but stay tuned. We will let you know the moment you can come splash, experiment, and play!
