Join Us at Juneteenth: Help Shape the Future of ScienceWorks

On Saturday, June 21BASE Southern Oregon will host their annual Juneteenth Celebration at Pear Blossom Park in Medford from 11 AM to 8 PM. This free, family-friendly event is a vibrant outdoor celebration of culture, freedom, and community — featuring live music, food, education, and entertainment for all ages.

ScienceWorks will be there too, and we’re bringing more than just hands-on fun. We’re launching the public phase of planning the museum’s future.

Our leadership team shares this message:

“ScienceWorks invites you to be part of developing our new strategic plan. As we prepare in 2026 to celebrate our 25th year of operation, we are exploring both who we have been at our best, and how we might make even more positive contributions to Ashland, the Rogue Valley, and the surrounding region. Our goal is to sustainably expand our reach and grow our impact in the community.
Join us at Juneteenth. Bring your stories of what you’ve most valued about ScienceWorks and your ideas to make it even better.”

Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, celebrates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. First recognized as a federal holiday in 2021, it commemorates June 19, 1865, when Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas to announce the end of slavery — over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

We hope you’ll join us in honoring this historic day and shaping the future of ScienceWorks together. Look for our booth and share your stories — your voice matters.
