This is a revised and updated class of the one given in 2007 at OLLI. We will discuss the history of man’s study of Mars and his fascination with the planet. The class will also look at details of the various missions to Mars, discuss their successes and failures, and consider future missions. The class will look closely at the “Rover” missions including the newest Mars Science Laboratory that landed this August. It will include a PowerPoint presentation with hyper-links to various websites.
Larry Kellogg has taught a series of ten classes on the Solar System, as well as many other classes on related subjects. He has degrees from Purdue University and California State Northridge.
