Will the World End on December 21, 2012?

Join us NoWill the world end on Dec 20, 2012?vember 15 at 7pm for a discussion with Colin White about the end of the world.

December 21 is regarded as the end date of a 5,125 yearlong cycle in the Mayan Long Count Calendar. This has led to several modern beliefs that a number of cataclysmic events will occur on the Winter Solstice this year -- including the end of world! There have been numerous articles and books published on this topic and even some movies produced.

This presentation is not only to reassure people that none of these events will occur, but also to take a look at the Mayans and their calendaring systems and the significance of the December 21 date. Colin will explain how many of the modern beliefs have arisen and why you donít have to be concerned about any of them coming true.

Colin is an information technology analyst, consultant and educator with over 40 years of experience in the computer software industry. He has several science-related hobbies including astronomy, robotics, meteorology and birding.
